[SFIRE017] Cometa - Distant Worlds
TRULY DISTANT WORLDS ( 2009 )
First chapter of the trilogy “ Life in Translation”.
Distant worlds are inside us, in the infinite space between two neurons, in the folds of the skin, under the nails, in the cells of a hair which falls out. Distant worlds are outside us, distant stars, we think we are there, but really, we are nowhere.
The western way of thinking, the oriental way of thinking, both lacking; maybe a combination of both would be preferable or maybe it would be better to create a new way. A transmigratory way of thinking without a centre, always mutating, always in motion, able to overpower traditional views, launched in unknown places. Space-ships, we are space-ships on a journey into the depths of space.
“Truly distant worlds” is dedicated to Moondog; in tracks 2 and 5, I used the sequence of notes from one of his sublime works : “Fujiyama”.
The arguments about musical genres leave me cold, like the intolerable habit of putting vague ideas of absolute truths, which in reality do not exist, in the same category as things which inhabit the universe of the ephemeral. The scoring of the project is the echo of the sounds which accumulate in the mind, probably sonic waste : rock, ambient, contemporary, noise, minimal etc. The technical tool is a computer and the instrument is the small Me.
I hope not to add more tediousness to other tediousness.
Thank you for your time.

[SFIRE016] ArtUnit - Universal Skiptracers vol. 1
ArtUnit
For the second release on SfintRecords "Universal Skiptracers" gives us a fusion of organic and mechanical approaches to the music or sounds. When listening to the sound of each track, each selection skips from one approach to the other while being open universally, thus the title.
Don’t be “Took Under” by the “ominous” “uncharted expeditions” that we plan out.
Sometimes the universe seems like “A beautiful lost notion” , so we’re “Feeling kind of non-solid”, but upon listening your quickly solidified and we hope nurtured, so enjoy.

[SFIRE012] Ristikiehtova - Ristikiehtova
The third and also the darkest Ristikiehtova full-length. Filled with unsavoury musical elements, false expectations and misplaced author pride, it is an audio trip few are eager to take. The concept this time is pretty abstract, mainly about Ristikiehtova itself and how I've felt lately. Hear it, if you feel compelled to. If you for some reason find yourself enjoying this album, feel free to spread it using any non-intrusive means you know.

[SFIRE011] Massimo Croce - Luigi Russolo Tribute
Biography and Info:
Massimo Croce was born in Ferrara, Italy 1966, has been living and working in Cairo since 2001. Inspired by the work of futurist musicians of the early 20th century such as Luigi Russolo, Croce celebrates "noise" as an additional element of "sound" that could be utilized in the creation of musical pieces. His music (almost a misnomer) involves the desynchronization of somewhat distorted sounds. Describing his work pattern, Croce explains that he walks the streets of Cairo with a voice recorder, recording everyday sounds to which the average Egyptian on the street is oblivious. Callers at the bus station, street vendors, the familiar bustle on the Cairene streets, all draw a smile on his face while others may huff and puff about the annoying sound level. "Normally, noise is looked upon as something annoying. Yet, we have always been living with noise," Croce said. As a matter of fact, Russolo, his role model said the same thing almost a century ago. Luigi Russolo was a painter, printmaker, writer and composer. Russolo is the forefather and theorizer of the “Electronic music” concept, invented and built instruments including Intonarumori ("intoners" or "noise machines"), to create "noises" for performance. On 11 March 1913 he published his futurist manifesto The Art of Noises (L’Arte dei rumori). The sound of the loud new world was not rendered in tones, but in noises. In order to prepare this homage, M. Croce has used the recording of the sounds originates them of the Intonarumori, has transformed these sounds with a software for computer, having created a music using the Intonarumori.

[SFIRE010] Black Dreams - Chapter One
Black Dreams it's a solo project by Piero - member of band TriploMaltoSe
An aetheric blending of sounds, voice and large rhythmic structure, quite dark but not imposing, though somewhat unsettling at times. Then, musical expression should create a little bit of awe, that is what makes it magical. It briefly locates an indescribably small gland in your primeval brain and activates it, triggering an exponential effect in evoking a sense of your own self, that you were not even aware of. Truly touching in a very subtle manner.

PIETRO GROSSI di Massimo Croce
Pietro Grossi

[SFIRE004] ArtUnit - Roads Seldomly Traveled
Roads Seldomly Traveled is a 9 track album emphasizing diversity. From dark ambient to electronic, with splashes of harsh noise and in some cases combining the styles in one piece or track. As is in the style of ArtUnit, the case is always diverse possibilities, the abstract universal. ArtUnit strives to create material that fringes on the chaotic theory, often showing the beauty of the material by approaching it through total improvisation as the early masters before us did, the result is freeform, so that in the listeners mind it can interpret anything.

[SFIRE001] Cometa - Ralph and Robert
Cometa is a truly captivating artist of some considerable merit. Being able to create wonderful music and sound constructions in a very accomplished manner. He is able to capture many essences and feelings, in an emotive and touching way, being able to cope with the expression of moods and sensations over many genres, with an amazing ability to fuse everything from classical to electronic minimalism. As an artist, he is a very idealistic and philosophic human being, with a heart of gold. The latter being the best fusion that his musical expression can and does convey. I believe Cometa, the artist to be truly avant garde and at the vanguard of a musical revolution. Change through cultural means, is something I fully support and, in that sense, have a strong belief in that aspect of his beautiful creative ability.(presentation by Ivan1984 - http://www.jamendo.com/en/user/Ivan1984 )
